The following figure 1 illustrates the high-level architecture of the DVD for Energy Edge with ABB and Forescout. The VMware ESXi hypervisor layer is running on the PowerEdge XR12 server. The VMware Edge Compute Stack provides virtual network support to the applications. The hypervisor facilitates application consolidation in the form of VMs. We have ABB’s ZEE600 and Forescout’s eyeInspect VMs running for this solution. These applications can work on a single XR12 server or two node server configurations with application-based high availability and three node vSAN cluster with VMware-based high availability, disaster recovery, and redundancy.
The DVD for Energy Edge architecture with ABB and Forescout addresses substation automation use cases by integrating the data handling, automation, and visualization offered by ABB’s ZEE600, and the cybersecurity monitoring and detection from Forescout’s eyeInspect. This DVD encapsulates the typical modern electrical substation, with downstream connections to IEDs, and upstream connections to a regional control center.
Note: Forescout’s eyeInspect can run PowerEdge R660/R760 at the control center, and Forescout’s sensors can run on Dell PowerEdge XR12 at far edge locations.
