By default, PowerEdge servers have USB and other ports enabled. In this best practice USB and serial ports are disabled because they can pose a security risk.

Overview
We did not expect a significant performance improvement when we disabled USB ports and serial communication on the servers. However, it is a good security practice. In this best practice the following ports were disabled in BIOS:

Results from disabling all unused integrated devices and serial communication port showed no improvement in any of the metrics:
Implementation Steps
To perform these changes, log in to iDRAC and do the following:
6. Click the Serial Communication and select Off in the dropdown list
