An AWS Outposts rack is a preconfigured stand-alone data center solution that hosts an Amazon AWS public cloud infrastructure within a private data center. The rack is delivered to a customer site and requires power and network connectivity to begin providing cloud services within the customer data center.
AWS Outposts can be deployed in an on-premises data center with Dell EMC Open Networking switch platform that runs SmartFabric OS10. This configuration provides AWS workloads high bandwidth, low latency, and storage-intensive local I/O network access.
The flexibility of the Dell EMC switching platform and the SmartFabric OS10 operating system running the devices, provides many architectural options of network virtualization, high bandwidth, port density, and low latency.
This tech note provides the details of a fabric deployment that supports AWS Outposts instances, and how they provide direct access to AWS workloads, on-premises workloads that leverage local Internet breakout, and the regulatory requirements for data sovereignty.
