AWS Outposts can be deployed on a traditional Leaf spine data center network with BGP. Modern network designs use BGP EVPN to build an IP-based VxLAN overlay, data-centric fabric. VcLAN EVPN fabrics provide enterprise grade scale, multitenancy, and workload mobility.
Figure 2 shows a traditional Layer 3 network with leaf1/2 in VLT mode. The AWS Outposts OND1/2 switch is connected to the leaf1/2 as VLAG 11, and 12.
OND1 runs BGP peering with the Leaf1, and OND2 with Leaf2. Figure 3 shows that OND1 is connected to both leaf1/2 using VLAG 11. OND2 is connected to both leaf1/2 using VLAG 12.
OND1 has two BGP peerings with Leaf1 - one in VLAN 400 for service-link connectivity, and VLAN 200 for local connectivity. OND2 has two BGP peerings with Leaf2 - one in VLAN 401 for service-link connectivity, and VLAN 201 for local connectivity.
