  • This solution is a simple, automated, and cost-effective approach to DR using the stretch clustering feature in Microsoft Azure Stack HCI. Stretch clustering provides automatic failover of Microsoft Hyper-V virtual machines (VMs) if a site failure occurs.

    Azure Stack HCI is an ideal solution for organizations that are refreshing and modernizing their existing virtualization environments. It is a fully productized hyperconverged infrastructure appliance for hybrid cloud computing that has deep integration with Microsoft Azure.

    We conducted proof-of-concept testing of this solution in the Dell Technologies labs. Test scenarios included:

    • Unplanned cluster node failure
    • Unplanned site failure
    • Planned site failure
    • Life cycle management on a stretch cluster using Dell OpenManage Integration with Microsoft Windows Admin Center
