We configured Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.2 with kernel 4.18.0-193.el8.x86_64 for the Oracle RAC database by following these steps:
- Before starting the installation of the Oracle Grid Infrastructure and Oracle RAC database, set the operating system environment variable CV_ASSUME_DISTID=OL7 as $export CV_ASSUME_DISTID=OL7.
- Create a text file containing the Oracle database-related Linux kernel parameter settings that are found in /etc/sysctl.d/99-oracle-database-preinstall-19c-sysctl.conf.
- Run sysctl --system to modify the file that is available in the active kernel memory. See Appendix A: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 Operating System Kernel Parameters.
