Splunk Enterprise may be deployed on bare metal operating systems or in OCI-compatible containers with any Kubernetes platform. This design uses Splunk Enterprise in OCI containers and Kubernetes orchestration provided by the Robin Cloud Native Platform (CNP) from Robin.io. Robin CNP is included with the Dell Validated Design for Analytics – Data Lakehouse.
The figure below shows a high-level view of the overall solution architecture.
The server design includes both Infrastructure Nodes and Worker Nodes. Infrastructure nodes are used to host the Robin CNP, the Kubernetes control plane, and HAProxy and keepalived for load balancing. This design requires three infrastructure nodes and uses Dell PowerEdge R650 servers.
Worker nodes provide compute resources for the workloads running on the cluster. They can be optimized for the intended workloads and services running on them, starting with a minimum of one Worker Node, using the Dell PowerEdge R750 server.
