Home > Workload Solutions > Oracle > Guides > User Guide—Dell Plug-in for Oracle Enterprise Manager > Discovering and promoting devices
After completing the initial setup process for the plug-in and OpenManage Enterprise target, all devices from the monitored Dell OpenManage Enterprise environment at that time will have been discovered, and depending on preferences, promoted.
If additional devices are added to the OpenManage Enterprise environment, the Dell Plug-in will automatically discover these new devices and add them in the plug-in. The plug-in will not collect the device-specific data. Administrators must perform more actions to collect data from the newly added devices.
Note: The new device will show in the tree view of the target as a grayed-out node and an unknown status until the device is promoted.
From the discovered state, you must promote each additional device from the list of discovered targets by performing the following steps:
Note: Oracle EM sets the default interval for running discovery of devices at one day. This can be reconfigured by going to Set up → Add Target → Configure Auto Discovery and selecting any host from table for which you want to configure. Click the Collection Schedule drop-down, select For Selected Host, and fill the wanted interval in Frequency textbox.
Note: Multiple devices may be promoted at the same time by using multi select. However, for multiple devices to be promoted simultaneously, the devices must be of the same target type.
