Choosing the right hardware requires an understanding of the Oracle EBS software and the business requirements. This includes performance, availability, cost, and expected future capacity. To replicate a real enterprise-class scenario, the deployment described in this white paper used systems that have integrated redundancy and reliability mechanisms. The sections below describe the PowerFlex cluster components at each layer.
Figure 4 shows the proposed Dell solution insight architecture for deploying the Oracle EBS environment on a Dell PowerFlex infrastructure.
The PowerFlex infrastructure is suitable for deploying an Oracle EBS platform. It can accommodate the server and storage (both NAS and SAN) which are required in a three-tier Oracle EBS architecture. The proposed PowerFlex setup for Oracle EBS deployment is a two-layer architecture where the compute layer is separate from the storage layer. An advantage to this approach is that Oracle EBS compute and storage nodes can scale independently, providing the flexibility to start small and add nodes as you grow for each tier.
The following list describes the PowerFlex infrastructure layers as it maps to the high available and scalable Oracle EBS infrastructure environment.
The actual numbers of the nodes for each layer can be scaled in or out based on the workloads demand as well as the high availability requirements.
