In this section we cover data governance and security of data assets managed with DDAE. Privacera provides a plugin-based connector for Starburst (the underlying query engine for DDAE). This integration enables businesses to balance the need for data-driven insights with the requirement for robust data security and governance.
To enable governance capabilities DDAE, Privacera provides a plugin that needs to be installed in the Starburst environment. This plugin allows DDAE to enforce governance policies configured in the Privacera platform.
With this solution, data stewards can easily configure policies in Privacera, which can then be referenced by DDAE while querying data across catalogs. We have explored the following cases using the TPCH catalog.
In an organization, users across functions need restricted access to data. This is a basic yet important aspect of data security and governance. The following access policy is configured in Privacera to restrict the user to access catalogs, schema, and table.
With this policy in place, the user can only access specified schema, table, and column using the DDAE query engine.
As a part of data security requirements, organizations need to mask personal information in their data ecosystem, such as credit card number, phone number, and so on. This can be achieved by having a masking policy in place.
Masking policies are crucial for meeting a majority of compliance requirements across industries.
With the growth of data and AI, enterprises need complex policies to be enforced to achieve a fully compliant data estate. Dell Data Lakehouse with Privacera can help businesses reach this goal. Data stewards can configure a policy that restricts records within a table for a user or group.
Row filtering policies can be configured and enforced in Privacera. Users and groups need an access policy to be able to get a filtered result of a query.
In this case, the query is displaying data for all customers where nationkey > 10.
