Oracle installation requires additional RPMs due to the minimal operating system base installation. A local yum repository enables the automatic installation of this additional RPM package installation. The following steps describe how to configure the local yum repository using the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5 ISO image.
mount -o loop RHEL-8.5.0-20211013.2-x86_64-dvd1.iso /opt
[InstallMedia]
name=Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.5.0
mediaid=None
metadata_expire=-1
gpgcheck=1
enabled=1
baseurl=file:///opt/BaseOS/
#baseurl=file:///opt/
gpgkey=file:///etc/pki/rpm-gpg/RPM-GPG-KEY-redhat-release
#dnf clean all
# dnf repolist
Load the Oracle 19c preinstall package with the following yum command:
# yum install oracle-database-preinstall-19c-1.0-2.el8.x86_64.rpm
This Oracle 19c preinstall package not only loads the required Linux packages, but also modifies the operating system configuration. These modifications include soft and hard limits in /etc/security/limits.conf and Linux operating system kernel settings that are required for Oracle database installation.
Use the following steps to install Oracle Grid Infrastructure and ASM on each VM operating system.
$gridSetup.sh.
/u01/app/19.0.0/grid/root.sh
Use the following steps upgrade Oracle grid infrastructure and ASM to 19cR15.
[root@dbhost1 ~]# opatchauto apply /home/grid/patches/33803476 -oh $ORACLE_HOME
