The Dell Technologies Validated Design for HPC PixStor Storage uses a modular approach to meet customer requirements. The basic building block is called a storage module (SM) that is available in three base configurations: Small (S), Medium (M), and Large (L), with an optional capacity expansion for the L configuration. Additionally, an optional high-demand metadata (HDMD) module is available for high metadata performance or very large number of files are required. These configurations can be used as scale-out building blocks to meet different capacity and performance goals as illustrated in Figure 1.
