When deploying your Dell Red Hat Pacemaker cluster, ensure that:
- All network components are redundant and secured against single-component failure.
- Four physical network cables are in place, two for each network.
- The data centers are no more than 100 km apart. This is necessary for replication to work as intended.
Note: This distance relates to the cable length, not just the physical distance. The distance is responsible for package delays between the data centers.
- All servers are sized to handle both the normal workload and the scenario when one side is down and a takeover operation is required. This is especially important in the case of the application servers because these servers run in an active/active configuration. In clustered configurations, the application server can become a bottleneck. For the best user experience during a takeover operation, size the application servers so that one server can take over the load of both servers.
Vendor requirements
The components that are used in the deployment must meet the following requirements:
- The server and storage components are certified by SAP.
- Linux versions are certified by Dell Technologies to run on the servers and by SAP for the SAP components that are used in the deployment.
