In recent years, the requirement for I/O performance has grown dramatically with increasing demand for traditional HPC I/O bandwidth, random IOPs, and metadata performance. pixstor uses a PFS that is well established in HPC environments. The enterprise features a rich Spectrum Scale/GPFS file system, with additional software from our partner company Kalray for simplified administration, expanded multi-tier connectivity in a single namespace, components monitoring, and advanced search capabilities. This document presents the latest generation of PowerEdge servers and existing PowerVault ME5 storage arrays, which provide a significant boost in performance compared to the previous generation (ME4), with the pixstor 6.0 software that offers high capacity, high availability, and high performance that can be tailored to meet the needs of the customer.
The design uses a building block approach, formulating a highly flexible solution to provide superior performance and reliable scalability to run today’s and tomorrow’s most demanding HPC applications.
The solution is ready for use in today’s large-scale data processing systems that might consist of thousands of compute nodes (clients) running tens of thousands of concurrent processes.
The solution is designed to enhance the availability of storage services to the HPC cluster by PowerEdge servers in HA pairs with PowerVault storage arrays and PowerEdge servers used as NVMe nodes. In addition to improving storage services availability, it maintains data integrity if failures or faults occur, while keeping performance optimized in a failure-free scenario.
