Abaqus is multiphysics Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software developed by the SIMULIA brand of Dassault Systèmes. It is commonly used in research, development, and manufacturing industries, across multiple engineering disciplines. Depending on the specific problem types, FEA codes might or might not scale well across multiple processor cores and servers. Implicit FEA problems often place large demands on memory and disk I/O subsystems. Abaqus contains several solver options, both implicit and explicit. As such, it is difficult to summarize the overall performance potential of Abaqus with a few benchmarks. SIMULIA provides a set of benchmark models for both the implicit solver in Abaqus/Standard and the explicit solver in Abaqus/Explicit. These benchmarks are useful for an indication of the relative performance potential for different systems; view them more qualitatively than quantitatively.
