The following table provides definitions for some of the key networking terms that are used in this document:
Term | Definition |
ASCS | ABAP SAP Central Services. ASCS consists of the message server and the enqueue server. The message server acts as a communication channel between the application servers and handles the load distribution. The enqueue server controls the lock mechanism. |
NAS | Network-Attached Storage |
NFS | Network File System |
PAS | Primary Application Server. The application servers run the ABAP dialog instances. One PAS and several additional application servers (AAS) are required depending on the workload. |
