At a high level, deploying the Dell SUSE Pacemaker solution consists of two tasks:
Note: Adjust the IP addresses and SAP HANA database system identifiers (SIDs) for your environment. The values that are provided in this chapter represent the minimum required values.
Ensure that you install all the latest SLES patches to your servers so that you do not encounter any known resolved issues.
Dell SAP engineering used two networks in their test configuration:
The following table shows the network hostnames:
IP address | Hostname | Use |
10.14.20.50 | hana-ha | Cluster address of the SAP HANA cluster |
10.14.20.51 | hana01 | Host address of the first SAP HANA server |
10.14.20.52 | hana02 | Host address of the second SAP HANA server |
10.14.20.61 | ascs01 | Host address of the first ASCS server |
10.14.20.71 | nw01 | Host address of the first application server |
10.14.20.72 | nw02 | Host address of the second application server |
192.168.0.20 | sapquorum | Server for the pacemaker quorum service, outside the SAP network |
Note: The SAP HANA database SID) must be different to the application layer SID; otherwise, the configuration fails on a later step. See SAP Note 2770989: Please choose a different SID for the SAP HANA database instance. Access requires SAP login credentials.
The following table shows the SID names for the SAP NetWeaver instances that must be unique for the system to function properly:
SID | System number | Component |
TH0 | 00 | SAP HANA database |
TR1 | 00 | ASCS instance |
TR1 | 21 | Primary Application Servers |
TR1 | 22 | Additional application server |
Three shared file systems are required between all servers, as shown in the following table. A network file system (NFS) server is recommended.
Path | Size | Note |
/sapmnt | >10 GB | Required |
/usr/sap/TR1/SYS | >10 GB | Required (except on the hana01 and hana02 nodes) |
/sapinst | >50 GB | Optional for installation media |
The user IDs and group IDs shown in the following tables must be the same on all hosts. Review the user IDs and group IDs on all your hosts in your SAP landscape before starting the deployment.
Username | ID | Role |
tr1adm | 1001 | SAP system administrator |
th0adm | 1002 | SAP HANA database administrator |
sapadm | 1003 | SAP system administrator |
Group name | ID | Note |
sapinst | 1001 | N/A |
sapsys | 1002 | If this name is different between the hosts, the installation fails. |
