This chapter provides information about the physical, hardware, software, and other requirements for a SUSE Pacemaker deployment.
The following figure shows a physical overview of the solution:
For the solution deployment:
Note: This distance determines package delays between the data centers. The distance relates to the cable length, not just the physical distance.
The components that are used in the deployment must meet the following requirements:

Dell SAP engineering used the following software components in their test deployment:
Component | Validated component | Revision |
Virtualization stack | VMware vSphere Enterprise | 7.0U3d |
Operating system | SUSE Linux Enterprise Server for SAP applications (SLES4SAP) | 15SP4 |
Database | SAP HANA | 2.0SP5 |
Software stack | SAP NetWeaver | 7.5SP23 |
Note: The SPs (service packs) define the software API and behaviors. The patch levels change daily based on security updates.
Dell SAP engineering used the following server models in their test deployment. Servers are sized for the environment based on the workload.
Component | Quantity |
ESXi Server | 4 x Dell PowerEdge R840 servers (4 x Intel® Xeon® CPUs) |
Component | Details |
CPU | 4 x Intel Xeon Gold 6242 |
Memory | 3,072 GB |
Network cards | 4 x Mellanox Technologies MT27710 25 Gb Ethernet |
| 2 x Broadcom BCM57412 10 Gb Ethernet |
Fibre Channel | 2 x QLogic 2692 |
Server BIOS | 2.12.2 |
