A clustered SAP solution helps protect critical workloads and keep all the solution components up and running if a local hardware component or a whole data center fails. In this scenario, the clustered SAP solution enables the business to apply critical security updates and other planned maintenance while the system remains available. Users can continue to access their workloads and keep the business going. SAP HANA uses a Red Hat Pacemaker cluster to protect against a single host failure. The ASCS instance of the SAP application layer is protected by VMware fault tolerance, instead of using an ASCS-ERS HA cluster. This simplifies the installation and reduces the overall complexity of the solution.
Other benefits of using this solution include:
Note: A focus on SAP HANA is critical because SAP requires that all customers have SAP HANA as their only database to run SAP systems by 2027.
