The compute resources for this reference architecture for mixed Oracle and SQL Server databases and workloads consist of:
A B480M5 Cisco blade server is deployed with the VMware ESXi 6.7 hypervisor and is configured to run three single-node Oracle database VMs. Each VM is deployed with Oracle 19c Grid Infrastructure (GI) and a stand-alone Oracle 19c Database running on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.6 as the guest operating system. The following table outlines the purpose of each of the Oracle database VMs:

To run the Oracle OLTP production database workload |
Second VM |
To run the Oracle OLAP database workload |
Third VM |
To run an OLTP database workload that is created as a snapshot of the OLTP production database |
