Azure’s product catalog offers various services to meet diverse customer needs, including Azure AI Services. These services enable customers to deploy and use various AI services efficiently.
Azure AI Services offer a set of pre-validated, security-compliant models ready for AI applications. Microsoft constantly updates these models, reducing the need for technical expertise, shortening deployment time, and providing a standardized service for customers. Customers can deploy these services in the Azure cloud or as on-premises containers.
Given data compliance and regulatory considerations, particularly in healthcare use cases, customers may opt for on-premises deployment. The on-premises containers can either be deployed in a connected or disconnected manner. For more information, see the Microsoft article: Containers in disconnected (offline) environments.
Disconnected services are only deployed in specific use cases, such as when containers do not have any access to the Internet for billing and monitoring purposes. Regardless of the connection status, no processed data, including the payload, transfers to the Azure cloud. Only billing information transmits from a connected container. Azure AI Speech and Azure AI Translator services are deployed as on-premises connected containers. For more information about the Azure AI services, see this Microsoft article: What are Azure AI containers?
