  • Guest VMs on the HLH

    Each Dell EMC Integrated System scale unit (SU) comes configured with robust monitoring and alerting capabilities. As of the Dell EMC 2001 release, the Hardware Lifecycle Host (HLH) has enabled the Hyper-V role and hosts two guest virtual machines (VMs):

    • DellEMC-OMEntVM
    • DellEMC-MGMTVM

    The Dell EMC OpenManage Enterprise application is installed on DellEMC-OMEntVM and is used for the monitoring and alerting of Dell EMC PowerEdge Server hardware.

    Note: OpenManage Enterprise replaced OpenManage Essentials in the Dell EMC 1906 release.

    Note: The DellEMC-MGMTVM virtual machine replaces the OpenManage Enterprise and OpenManage Network Manager VMs as of the 2001 release.     The DellEMC-MGMTVM hosts OpenManage Network Manager and SupportAssist Enterprise. OpenManage Network Manager is used for managing and maintaining the Dell EMC network switches that are included with the SU. SupportAssist Enterprise is installed for automatic support-case creation when hardware alerts appear in OpenManage Enterprise.

    Monitoring and alerting in SUs

    The Health Resource Provider exposes the health and alerts for the Microsoft Azure Stack Hub software infrastructure components. It is viewable through the Azure Stack Hub Administration Portal or programmatically using REST APIs and PowerShell.
