Dell switches can connect to most other Ethernet switches in the industry, and are commonly connected to the Cisco Nexus switch. Examples of the most popular protocols used between the switches are covered below along with explanations of when each should be used. One or more physical cables are required between each switch. In the figures, the rectangular boxes represent switches and lines between them represent cables. A circle around multiple lines shows that one or more cables may be joined to form a single LAG, as shown in the figure below.
Commands in the sections that follow are entered at the CLI of each switch. The management network may be used to attach to each switch using Telnet, SSH, or the serial cable interface if a management network has not been configured. Most examples in this guide start the user at the OS10(conf)# prompt for Dell switches, and at the switch(config)# prompt for Cisco Nexus switches. To get to these prompts, enter the configure terminal command from the global command prompt.
