Microsoft Azure Stack HCI supports switchless connections for East West traffic to a maximum of four nodes in a cluster. Refer to the cabling diagram for guidance to create a full mesh.

To configure an Azure Stack HCI networking environment using Network ATC one must create the cluster and then configure host networking using Network ATC. We would enable S2D as a final step.

This is a deviation from the legacy procedure where host networking was the first step, followed by cluster creation.

  After you create the cluster, run the Enable-ClusterS2D cmdlet to configure Storage Spaces Direct on the cluster. Do not run the cmdlet in a remote session; instead, use the local console session.

- Enabling BitLocker
  BitLocker is a drive encryption feature from Microsoft that is designed to protect the user data on a system. BitLocker provides elevated protection when combined with a hardware component called trusted platform module (TPM).

  Before you proceed with operational management of the cluster, Dell Technologies recommends that you validate the cluster deployment, verify that the infrastructure is operational, and, if needed, activate the operating system license.
