This section explains the steps to take PowerFlex snapshots.
Perform the following steps to take manual snapshots:
- Log in to PowerFlex Manager.
- Click Block > Volumes.
- Select all the volumes for which the snapshot must be taken.
- Click More Actions > Create Snapshot.
- In the Create Snapshot window, provide the names for snapshot of the volumes.
- Clear the Read Only checkbox if the snapshots are to be used in dev/test environments.
- Click Create to create the snapshot of the volumes.
The snapshot of all the selected PowerFlex volumes also creates a snapshot consistency group automatically.
Policy-based PowerFlex snapshots
Perform the following steps to setup a policy for taking snapshots:
- Log in to PowerFlex.
- Select Protection > Snapshot Policy.
- Click Create Snapshot Policy.
- In the Create Snapshot Policy window, update the requested information:
- Policy Name – Update the name to define a policy.
- Snapshot Rules – Update the frequency of the snapshot to be taken.
- Retention Rules – Update the duration to retain the snapshots taken.
- Clear the Read Only checkbox if the snapshot must be used for the dev/test environment.
- Click Create to complete the creation of the snapshot policy.
- Click the snapshot policy created to add the volumes to the policy.
- Click More Actions > Assign Volumes to add the volumes.
- From the list, select the volumes that must be added to the snapshot policy and click Assign Policy.
- Click More Actions > Activate to activate the policy.
The PowerFlex snapshot policy is created and activated.
