Dell Unity Data Reduction is supported on standalone LUNs, LUNs contained within a Consistency Group, File Systems, or VMware VMFS and NFS Datastores. All software features on a storage system are supported with data reduction. Data reduction algorithms also support Local LUN Move which leverages the Transparent Data Transfer (TDX) technology and offload data transfer operations sent to the system. The following sections talk specifically about certain features of the Dell Unity storage system, and how they relate to data reduction.
