As discussed in the section,- Supported Configurations, data reduction is only available for certain Dell Unity models and certain UnityOS versions. Additionally, advanced deduplication has its own requirements for system model and UnityOS version. In all cases, data reduction with and without advanced deduplication enabled is supported on an All Flash Pool, whether it is a Traditional or Dynamic Pool.
In UnityOS version 5.2 and later, data reduction with and without advanced deduplication is supported on hybrid flash pools created on Unity XT model systems. Unity XT model systems include the Unity XT 380, 480, 680 and 880. As discussed in Supported Configurations, the hybrid flash pool must contain a Flash tier, and the total capacity of the Flash tier must meet or exceed 10% of the Pool’s total space. The Flash Percent value was added in the UnityOS 5.2 release to easily determine the Pool’s percentage of flash capacity. This value can be viewed in Unisphere on the General tab within the properties of a Pool, from Unisphere CLI, and REST API. If the Flash Percent value does not meet or exceed 10%, data reduction will not be available on the resource.
