Data and resources can be migrated from your existing source clusters to a more up-to-date cluster. In this guide, we refer to the new cluster as the 'target cluster.' The source clusters encompass two distinct clusters: one with Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Foundation deployed, and the other with Bare Metal Orchestrator deployed. The data is then migrated to the target cluster, which has Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Foundation deployed.
Migration cannot be triggered simultaneously on the same target cluster.
You need access to the Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite web user interface to view the migration status and logs.
The following table displays the supported migration paths in Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite.
Software bundle | Description |
Migrate from Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite release 1.0 (Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Foundation release 1.1 and Bare Metal Orchestrator release 2.3) to Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite release 2.0.1. | You can only migrate the data from the source clusters to the target cluster. A direct upgrade path from Bare Metal Orchestrator or Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Foundation to Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite is not available. |
A CLI migrator tool package in the Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Suite bundle facilitates the data migration of the following components:
- Bare Metal Orchestrator media and firmware media
- Bare Metal Orchestrator managed servers
- Bare Metal Orchestrator remote sites
- Bare Metal Orchestrator server telemetry
- Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Foundation IMGR data (locations, sites, resource pool, and resources compute)
- Dell Telecom Infrastructure Automation Foundation data in the file server Note: Data such as license files, blueprint files, and plug-in files are not migrated.
Note: During migration, any duplicate files with the same file path in the file server of both source clusters and the target cluster will be overwritten.
