HCI can consolidate virtualization, compute, storage, and networking resources on cost-effective, industry-standard servers and help them scale performance and storage capacity with greater ease and speed than traditional 3-tier IT architectures.

    Our experience working with an HCI platform using VMware ESXi with PowerFlex storage for hosting enterprise applications for video management and computer vision AI revealed the depth of the platforms innovation and a focus on ease of deployment and management. Below are some of the key takeaways from this project:

    • The integration of ESXi with PowerFlex provides a flexible, scalable, on-premises, hyperconverged infrastructure (HCI) that is an attractive option to customers looking to consolidate virtualized workloads.
    • Our HCI cluster was built on custom hardware nodes from Dell Technologies that provide the most flexibility but require the most effort during deployment. PowerFlex Rack and Appliance Solutions from Dell Technologies are designed for rapid deployment and minimal maintenance, allowing for scalability that supports business growth.
    • The familiarity of our team with ESXi and vCenter made it easy for experienced VMware engineers to optimize the compute resources for enterprise applications. - PowerFlex Manager is specifically designed to simplify data center operations and life cycle management in PowerFlex systems with high scalability and performance when handling large and dynamic workloads.
    • The software-defined storage architecture of PowerFlex ensures high performance, supporting intensive and latency-sensitive applications. It is highly optimized for environments like ESXi where managing multiple virtual machines efficiently is crucial.
    • With PowerFlex, you can configure storage to suit a variety of application needs, from high Input/Output Operations Per Second (IOPS) for transactional databases to high throughput for big data applications, all within the same infrastructure.

    For these reasons, we feel that Dell PowerFlex provides an attractive option for organizations deploying VMware ESXi in a hyperconverged infrastructure, looking to achieve high performance, ease of management, and scalable growth.
