The following table shows the networks used by VxRail nodes in the workload domain for this deployment example.
VLAN ID | Description | Name | Network | Gateway |
4091 | SFS Client Management/ VxRail cluster build | Client_ Management | N/A | None |
3939 | VxRail node discovery | Client_Control | IPv6 multicast | None |
1821 | External Management | w01-ext-mgmt | 172.18.21.0/24 | 172.18.21.254 |
1822 | vMotion | w01-vmotion | 172.18.22.0/24 | None |
1823 | vSAN | w01-vsan | 172.18.23.0/24 | None |
2600 | NSX host overlay | w01-host-overlay | 172.26.101.0/24 (Rack 1) 172.26.102.0/24 (Rack 2*) 172.26.10n.0/24 (Rack n*) | 172.26.101.254 (Rack 1) 172.26.102.254 (Rack 2*) 172.26.10n.254 (Rack n*) |
2721 | NSX edge uplink 1 | w01-edge-uplink1 | 172.27.21.0/24 | None |
2722 | NSX edge uplink 2 | w01-edge-uplink2 | 172.27.22.0/24 | None |
2723 | NSX edge overlay | w01-edge-overlay | 172.27.23.0/24 | 172.27.23.254 |
Rack 2 and higher (represented by Rack “n”) only apply to multirack topologies. Configure one unique w01 NSX host overlay network and gateway for each rack in the SmartFabric.
Note: SFS automatically creates VLANs 4091 and 3939. The remaining VLAN IDs and their network IP addresses shown in the table above are user-defined and are examples only. In SmartFabric mode, VLANs 1 through 3999, excluding 3939, are available for use.
The Prepare for VCF workload domain deployment section of this guide provides steps to add the seven w01 networks in the table above to the SmartFabric.
