Dell NativeEdge is an edge operations software platform that helps businesses securely scale their edge management. NativeEdge centralizes edge management across locations, automates operations, offers a flexible ecosystem with its open design, enables zero-trust security and provides multi-cloud connectivity. With NativeEdge, enterprises across various industries can securely power any edge solution and accelerate AI innovation at the edge.
The NativeEdge latest release adds several significant features to NativeEdge including additional hardware support. These features improve the workload orchestration capabilities of NativeEdge, and they provide new options for managing the NativeEdge Orchestrator.
NativeEdge latest release introduces initial support for containerized applications, with plans to enhance capabilities in the future. With this update, you can now seamlessly manage and deploy containerized applications directly on NativeEdge Endpoints using blueprints. Leveraging a Docker Compose file, NativeEdge configures essential parameters to the application such as network settings, CPU allocation, volumes, so on Additionally, customers can gain console access via a secure shell for remote management. With this release, NativeEdge is simplifying the deployment process, making it easier for customers to manage their edge environments.
NativeEdge latest release seamlessly integrates with vCenter and Kubernetes, enhancing edge operations and enabling efficient management of applications across distributed locations. With NativeEdge Blueprints, customers can deploy and manage edge applications not only on NativeEdge Endpoints, but also on their existing non-Dell infrastructure. For example, these could be vSphere or Kubernetes clusters running on systems in the core data center and even in the public cloud, where portions of your edge applications are deployed. NativeEdge allows customers to deploy applications on an end-to-end view and ensure that those applications are managed in a consistent and connected way.
NativeEdge latest release leverages Public REST APIs to deliver a more efficient, secure, and customizable edge solution. The REST APIs allow developers to customize and extend platform functionality, collaborate within the edge ecosystem, and integrate with third-party services. These APIs are open to the public and free to use allowing developers who want to explore various data sets or integrate information into their websites and applications. REST APIs allow Dell NativeEdge to scale horizontally by distributing workloads across multiple endpoints expanding the flexibility of the platform. With REST APIs, NativeEdge can process data at the edge in real time, reducing latency and enabling faster decision making for critical applications. By using REST APIs, NativeEdge can securely communicate with various cloud services while keeping sensitive data localized, minimizing exposure to potential security risks.

NativeEdge latest release expands upon the wide range of validated endpoints by adding support for additional devices found within the Dell Precision and PowerEdge product family. After the NativeEdge Endpoint is powered on at their site, the Dell NativeEdge Operating system is automatically installed on each endpoint device. This Operating system acts as a Linux-based KVM hypervisor, enabling support for VMs on top of each NativeEdge Endpoint. These endpoints also have a secure and encrypted communication channel to the Orchestrator using SSL or TLS protocols over HTTPS.
There are four types of NativeEdge Endpoints that are currently supported. The list of the NativeEdge Endpoints will expand in future releases.
* Specific Endpoints unique to the NativeEdge latest release are the PowerEdge T160, XR5610, XR7620, XR8610t, XR8620t, R760XS, R660XS, Precision 7960XL Rack, 7960XL Tower and the 5860XL Tower.
