When bringing Dell APEX Cloud Platform for Red Hat OpenShift into an existing environment that already utilizes Dell PowerFlex storage, you can choose to implement the ACP compute cluster connected to PowerFlex and not use ACP storage nodes. This allows you to utilize your existing investment and skillset in PowerFlex.
It is important to note that by choosing PowerFlex for the back-end storage you will not be able to leverage any future storage integration features. You must continue to manage PowerFlex software and hardware using the same methods you do today.
Choosing to use a back-end PowerFlex storage deployment model is beneficial in the following circumstances:
- You have an existing PowerFlex cluster that you want to leverage
- You prefer for storage to be managed by a storage management team
- You would like to consume PowerFlex storage from other systems in your environment beside ACP compute
