The solution design supports multiple storage technologies.
- VMware vSAN
- PowerScale
- Cloud S3 Storage
VMware vSAN
VMware vSAN storage was provisioned with a RAID 1 storage policy to provide the best fault tolerance with the least write latency penalty. RAID 1 protection consumes more disk space than other available RAID options but provides better file access performance. The vSAN datastores that are configured on the VxRail cluster provided local disk mapping for all the storage needs of cluster-hosted VMs, including the operating system and all other local files. The Milestone recorder Tier 1 volume also used vSAN storage.
PowerScale
PowerScale is an on-premises, enterprise scale-out NAS solution for accessing and retaining large volumes of video data that can meet the application needs of many types of organizations. An A3000 PowerScale appliance was used in this design validation for the video stream archive. The PowerScale storage system can also be sized to process historical video data retrieval workloads with retrospective CV applications for analysis.

Cloud S3 storage
There are cases where a customer may prefer to leverage a cloud provider versus on-premises storage. The Tiger Surveillance product provides both options. For cloud connections, it is critical that the connectivity is stable and resilient to ensure no video data loss is caused during an outage.
