Setting up a VMS and CV solution that covers all the business needs and is easy to scale requires research, planning, testing, and implementation. This process can involve significant trial and error before finding the optimal fit for an organization's needs driving up implementation time and labor costs.
The Dell Validated Design for Computer Vision and Milestone Systems XProtect creates a unified VMS platform that streamlines setup, administration and management, is highly scalable, and offers high levels of performance and compatibility. Milestone XProtect running on the Dell Validated Design for Computer Vision has undergone rigorous interoperability and performance testing in our Dell Technologies engineering validation labs, so you know what to expect before the system is deployed. By choosing a solution that Dell Technologies has already validated, you can reduce implementation costs and have a functional solution in less time.
The following diagram shows the various Milestone XProtect VMS system components with optional redundancy options that are required to deploy a fully distributed and highly scalable VMS. These applications and virtual machines require at least one instance of each for a functioning system.
- Management server
- Failover management server
- SQL server
- Management Client
In deployments where the loss of video recording capability cannot be tolerated, the management server and database server (SQL Server) should be configured for high availability. The Management client is needed for changing system configuration and more than one can be configured if needed.
