A question that we looked to answer is how do we still leverage the massively scalable PowerScale for offline video storage. High-volume video is typically saved locally for regulatory and cost saving purposes. To investigate this, we configured the long-term storage for the Milestone VMS.
Results
To test the connectivity from the Azure Stack to a PowerScale the Archive storage was configured using the typical SMB storage protocol.

Findings
- All the use cases tested were successful and ran without errors or performance concerns . All simulated video was successfully streamed to the local Milestone Tier 1 storage, which is processed by both Ipsotek and BriefCam, and archived to the connected on-premises PowerScale without any warnings, errors, or failures.
- The Milestone Tier 1 storage using Storage Spaces Direct three-way mirroring performed well with respect to latency and capacity for holding live data prior to archiving.
