The driver file must be uploaded to the driver
folder in file system using command bmo upload fs -f <filename> -m <module>
. The module
must be driver
; if it is a different folder, then the driver installation will fail.
For ESXi installation, Bare Metal Orchestrator can perform custom driver installation by accessing the drivers from the Bare Metal Orchestrator's web server or an external web server.
Observe the following:
-
You can perform custom driver installations only when installing or upgrading an operating system on a Dell or Supermicro server.
-
You must be aware of ESXi compatibility metrics between different release versions, and each version has a device driver(s) version compatibility. You can access the VMware Compatibility Guide in the following web link: VMWare compatibility guide.
-
You must create a media object for each type of device driver. For example, if you want to install icen and ibbd drivers, create two different media objects.
-
Update the
type
and theversion
correctly in the driver media file, and the values must match with the operating system driver and version specification. - Operating system deployment can be successful even if any driver installation fails. After installation is complete, check the OSDetails field in the server status to ensure that all the drivers are installed successfully.
-
If any driver installation fails, install the driver manually and verify the installation.
