You can back up the entire cluster at any time. Cluster information that is captured includes the Global Controller and worker node settings, site configurations, users and role information, persistent volumes, and related metadata.
To backup a cluster:
- Establish a CLI session on the Bare Metal Orchestrator VM and log in. For high availability configurations, establish a CLI session using the virtual IP (VIP) of the Load Balancers for the Bare Metal Orchestrator cluster.
- Run the following command to check the backup location:
bmo get backup-location --name bmo-backup-location
- Run the following command to create the backup:
bmo create backup --name <backupname> --location <backup-location name>--ttl <time to live
of backup>
- Run the following command to check the status of the backup:
bmo get backups --name bmo-backup
Note: If the backup is successful, the status message indicating the same is displayed.
- Run the following command to retrieve detailed information about the given backup files in the S3 storage location.
bmo describe backup --name backupname
