The Azure Stack HCI operating system servers have the capability for GPU enabled clustered VMs through the use of DDA on supported GPUs.
For the list of supported GPUs see the latest version of the Support Matrix.
Guest driver download and install instructions
- To download the drivers, go to https://nvid.nvidia.com/ and log in with your enterprise account.
- Click Nvidia licensing portal and select SOFTWARE DOWNLOADS.
All the available software is listed for download.
- To locate Microsoft Azure stack HCI, apply filters PRODUCT FAMILY: VGPU and PLATFORM: Microsoft Azure Stack HCI.
- Always verify that the driver supports your GPU and intended usage. For more information, see Virtual GPU Software R 550 for Microsoft Azure Stack HCI Release Notes.
The following output appears:
This package contains the required driver for the VM to use the DDA GPU. There is no driver requirement for the host when using DDA, the driver is on the Guest VM. The bare metal hosts will see the GPUs as 3D Video controller.
There are two ways of doing DDA, Windows Admin Center (WAC) or PowerShell. Dell Technologies recommends using the Windows Admin center to reduce user error and to conform to best practices. For more information, see Use GPUs with clustered VMs.
Once DDA is complete and the VM is assigned a GPU, you must install the Nvidia Guest driver on the Guest VM, for it to be able to use the GPU. Once again there is no host driver requirement. For more information on how to install the guest driver, see Virtual GPU Software User Guide.
Once the driver is installed, then your VM is ready to start using the DDA GPU.
