RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines 5.2.2 adds the capability to protect VMs directly to Amazon Simple Storage Service (S3) using proprietary snap-based replication with an RPO of 15 minutes.
Use RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines to protect production VMs while a Cloud DR Server (CDRS) instance is deployed to Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to manage the cloud copies and run orchestrated recovery flows to native Amazon EC2 instances.
Optionally, deploy the Cloud DR Add-on appliance to fail back from Amazon Web Services (AWS) to an on-premises vCenter server or to VMware Cloud on AWS. If the source VMs or sockets are licensed in the same way as a noncloud solution, the CDRA is a no-cost option with RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines.
By implementing the RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines Cloud Solution, you can:
- Allow multiple local and remote copies on-premises and to the cloud and test or failover to AWS EC2.
- Fail back to on-premises VMware environments or VMware cloud on AWS (SDDC) by using the Cloud DR appliance (CDRA)
- Orchestrate in-cloud DR.
The HTML5 plug-in for RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines 5.3 cannot configure and manage the RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines Cloud Solution. Manage the Cloud Solution through the RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines 5.3 Flex plug-in for vSphere vCenter servers supporting FLEX or the RecoverPoint for Virtual Machines RESTful API.
