XC Family systems are SAP HANA-certified for dual socket and quad socket CPUs with 2nd Generation Intel(R) Xeon(R) Gold or Intel Xeon Platinum Scalable Processors (Cascade Lake) with at least 8C/16T (more is preferred).
Hyperthreading is a hardware technology on Intel processors that lets a physical processor core act like two processors. Enabling hyperthreading on the newer Intel processors gives a performance advantage in general.
Sharing CPU sockets between SAP HANA production VMs (NUMA node sharing) is not allowed under SAP HANA certification rules. The Nutanix CVM occupies one NUMA node, and the remaining NUMA nodes are available for SAP HANA. Always set production SAP HANA VMs to one or more specific NUMA nodes. In SAP HANA production environments, always set NUMA node affinity for the Nutanix CVM and the SAP HANA VMs to ensure that there is no sharing of resources and all the socket cores are entirely allocated for the intended VM.
