The following requirements must be met before deploying an OpenShift cluster. For more information, see OpenShift assisted Installer prerequisites.
- DNS—Records for ingress and API Virtual IPs are required for accessing the cluster, however, such VIPs are managed by the cluster itself, so no external load balancer is required. The DNS forward zone file that is used in this solution is present in the appendix section.
- SSH public key—This key must be generated on the workstation from where the nodes will be accessed, and this key will be used to authenticate SSH access to the nodes, for example, for troubleshooting during deployment, or longer-term maintenance post-deployment. For more details on SSH key generation, see Generating a key pair for cluster node SSH access.
- NTP server—For time synchronization among hosts.
- As part of network requirements, and since this deployment is “connected” type all the nodes of the OpenShift cluster need to have connectivity to the Internet.
