The requirements for building a Rancher Kubernetes cluster using RKE2 are as follows:
Name | Version | Description | Reference |
Rancher Server | 2.7.1 | Rancher server is used from Workstation VM. | https://www.suse.com/suse-rancher/support-matrix/all-supported-versions/ |
Rancher Kubernetes Engine Government (RKE2) | 1.24.4+rke2r1 | RKE2 is used from Workstation VM. | |
3 SLES15 SP4 nodes * | SLES15 SP4 | Ensure that the nodes are accessed using SSH and the required ports must be opened before the cluster installation. |
* A working DNS or fully qualified domain name (FQDN) must be appropriately configured for all the nodes.
Establish SSH connectivity as follows:
$ ssh-keygen
$ HOME/.ssh/id_rsa (SSH private key, keep this secure)
$ HOME/.ssh/id_rsa.pub (SSH public key)
$ ssh-copy-id -i ~/.ssh/id_rsa.pub root@ip
$ ssh -i $HOME/.ssh/id_rsa root@hostname cat /etc/os-release
