It is not possible to disable Apple-specific SMB extensions from the Apple client in macOS 10.15 and later. Instead, the Apple extensions must be disabled on the OneFS storage cluster itself. To disable Apple SMB extensions in OneFS, run the following command from the OneFS CLI:
isi_gconfig \
registry.Services.lwio.Parameters.Drivers.srv.smb2.EnableAppleExtensions=0
The following screen captures show the file share information before and after Apple extensions were disabled. Notice that before the extensions are disabled, macOS identifies PowerScale as a fully native file share, while afterwards, PowerScale shows up as an NTFS share. NTFS is the preferred setting.
