Before macOS 11, there were significant software driver issues with the integrated 10GBASE-T NICs in Apple hardware. A change in OneFS to protect against certain kinds of Denial of Service (DOS) attacks resulted in poor performance for Apple systems using integrated 10GBASE-T NICs. Fortunately, the macOS driver issues are resolved in macOS 11.
For users of older versions of macOS, there can be difficult to diagnose performance problems when using the internal 10GBASE-T NICs in Apple hardware. Fortunately, there is a change that can be made in OneFS that can improve performance for these older macOS systems.
