For the NFS protocol, the default export configuration in OneFS 9.3 and later is to continue limiting the names to 255 bytes, as in previous releases. However, long filename limits (and encoding types) can be specified under the export settings. You can configure these limits from the OneFS CLI with the following syntax:
# isi nfs settings export modify -–name-max size <integer> --encoding <string>
Alternatively, you can configure the limits in the OneFS WebUI by going to Protocols > UNIX sharing (NFS) > Export settings and editing the File name limits field:
The OneFS ISI_PRIV_NFS role-based access control (RBAC) privilege is required by any cluster administrator account for the following operations:
Operation | Required privilege |
Create an NFS export to specify the maximum filename length. | ISI_PRIV_NFS |
Change the global NFS exports setting to specify the maximum filename length. | ISI_PRIV_NFS |
