OneFS 9.3 and later versions fully support long filenames for general use on a cluster. As such, there are no limitations around client I/O access patterns, protection levels, or sparseness for long names. Furthermore, the suite of OneFS storage management and data protection features is compatible with long filenames, as described in Long filenames and OneFS data services.
While an increase in name lengths could potentially reduce the number of filenames contained within OneFS metadata structures (for example, DFM btree leaves), the overall performance impact of creating files with longer names is negligible.
