This mount option exists in all Linux distributions with kernel 5.3 or higher and can be set up to a limit of 16. It allows clients establish multiple TCP connections to a OneFS cluster node for a specific NFS version, as it can be used with NFSv3 and NFSv4.x with each individual version being tracked separately.
In EDA environment, if you are using 10 GB Ethernet or above from end to end, it’s highly recommended to improve the NFS performance with simple NFS mount option.
Usage: nconnect=<value>, value should be set to a number from 1 to 16. Setting this value too high will result in more degraded performance on low bandwidth networks.
Recommended value is 4 and measure results in a lab environment simulating a specific workload to ensure performance enhancements.
