Oracle 21c Grid Infrastructure and databases are configured as a three-node RAC cluster. A UDEV rules (see Appendix 2. UDEV rules) file was used on the RAC nodes to provide consistent and easy to recognize volume names for the Oracle ASM disks.
Note: the OLTP tests used two of the RAC nodes and the sequential read tests used all three RAC nodes.
The following table shows the PowerFlex volumes (ASM disks) used to create the Automatic Storage Management (ASM) disk groups. All the ASM disk groups were created with external redundancy type except OCRVOTE disk group with the quorum files, which were created with normal redundancy type.
Table 7. ASM disks information
Disk group | Number of disks x Size of each disk | Total size | Redundancy | AU size | Description |
OCRVOTE | 3 x 64 GB | 192 GB | Normal | 4 MB | OCR and Voting file to maintain cluster configuration information |
DATA | 6 x 800 GB | 4.8 TB | External | 4 MB | Data files and Temp files |
LOG | 2 x 80 GB | 160 GB | External | 4 MB | Online redo log files |
FRA | 4 x 400 GB | 1.6 TB | External | 4 MB | Archive logs and Backup files |
The SLOB 2.5.4.0 benchmark tool is used to generate the Oracle database workload. The SLOB database configuration consists of 300 users (also database schemas, or tables), with a scale of 8 GB for a total dataset size of 2.4 TB (300 x 8 GB). Together with Oracle system and undo tablespaces, the +DATA ASM disk group is close to 3 TB of used capacity. The performance tests are run with lite redo generation SLOB option.
