Consider the following recommendations for PowerFlex:
- In two-layer deployments host and storage traffic should reside on separate networks. This pattern isolates rebuild and rebalance traffic from client traffic.
- For performance reasons, configure physical ports with an MTU size of 9,216 bytes on the 25 Gb Ethernet switches to which the PowerFlex data network adapter, Oracle public and private network adapter ports are connected.
- All PowerFlex data networks must be assigned and accessible from each storage data clients (SDC).
- If a node running an SDS has aggregated links to the switch and is running Linux, the hash mode on Linux should be configured to use the xmit_hash_policy=layer3+4 bonding option.
- SDS components that make up a protection domain should reside on the hardware with equivalent storage and network performance.
- Storage pools should be created using drives with same capacity and performance characteristics. It is recommended to use fewer storage pools to reduce complexity and make it easier to manage.
- Set the following parameters from the PowerFlex CLI for better performance.
- Run the following command to increase the SDS threads to twelve:
scli --set_performance_parameters --all_sds --tech --sds_number_os_threads 12
