- PowerFlex requires that the volumes should be of the same size in both source and target system, for volumes to participate in replication.
- A Test Failover automatically creates a snapshot of the volumes which are part of the replication pairing on the target system and replaces the original target volumes mapping with mapping to the snapshot. The access mode of the volumes in the target system will be changed to read/write from read-only, thus enabling volumes to be mapped to an SDC connected to the target PowerFlex storage system.
- Failover passes the ownership of volumes in an RCG from source to target system. Thus, whenever an RCG failover command is issued, the access mode of source volumes switches to read_only and the access mode of target volumes switches to read/write.
- PowerFlex asynchronous replication also provides the snapshot feature which is essentially a snapshot of each volume which is part of an RCG in target system. This feature can be useful for remote testing of application or DR activity.
- It is recommended to include DATA and REDO into a single RCG and make a separate RCG for archivelog.
